Here are just some of the landscaping sectors we support:

Residential

We regularly work with a wide range of reputable landscapers and architects to ensure our materials meet all the required specifications and our locations are handlily open 6 days a week.

Commercial

Starting off in 1984 delivering soil in 2 cubic metres loads, we now deliver hundreds of tonnes a day to the commercial landscape sector. In the past 12 months alone, we’ve supplied over 1 million Tonnes of soil, sand, rock and mulch for railway crossing upgrades across Victoria, 25,000 Tonnes for works at the Puckapunyal Military Base and over 20,000 Bulka Bags for a variety of uses.

An active member of the Landscape Industry Association of Victoria (LIAV), we work closely with clients to ensure that all the materials meet exacting standards and specifications, giving them full confidence in the product and service we offer.

Schools

All across Melbourne, schools turn to Soilworx to provide a wide range of landscaping materials to help create great outdoor spaces to play and learn or simply to keep their grounds beautiful.

Not only do we supply Playground Mulch, Sand Pit, Turf Sand and Organic Garden Soil that’s ideal for vegetable gardens, we also offer a useful soil testing service and a range of soil enhancements to improve existing soil structure, quality and water retention. In addition, because they often require a significant amount of soil, our ability to accommodate bulk orders is another reason why so many schools choose Soilworx.

Swimming Pools

No matter if you’re installing or removing an in-ground swimming pool, at some point you’re left with a pretty big hole and a need to backfill a previously excavated area with material.

During construction, the extra space around a pool that’s been excavated for plumbing needs has to be backfilled and, likewise, when a pool’s removed, backfilling is how you fill in the big hole so a garden can return to normal. In both situations, installers around Victoria turn to Soilworx to supply a wide range of bedding materials, gravel, soils and more.

Sports Ovals & Fields

Whether watching your favourite team smash the opposition or simply having a kickabout with your kids, a sports oval or field with a great playing surface truly is a thing of beauty.

And it all starts with the foundation materials.

Generally, ovals require a combination of materials that provide good drainage, stability, and playability. These vary depending on the type of sport, climate and local soil conditions but some common foundation materials Soilworx provide include:

  • Subsoil: Typically the foundational layer for ovals, the site’s existing subsoil should be well-compacted and free from excessive clay content, which could lead to poor drainage.
  • Drainage materials: Proper drainage is crucial to prevent waterlogging and maintain a stable playing surface. Materials like gravel, sand and drainage pipes are used to facilitate water movement away from the playing area.
  • Sand: Often incorporated into the topsoil or root zone mix, Sand is commonly used in the construction to improve drainage and create a stable playing surface.
  • Topsoil: The uppermost layer of the field, the Topsoil is essential for supporting grass growth. It needs to be carefully selected and prepared to provide a balanced mixture of organic matter, sand and clay to promote a good looking and healthy turf.

When it comes to sports projects, we work in partnership with a wide range of specialist sports field experts, landscape architects and agronomists to ensure that the design and construction meets safety, playability and maintenance requirements. In addition, key elements like budget, local regulations, how often it’s used and the specific needs of sports being played on the field are taken into account in the selection and combination of foundation materials used.

Golf Courses

It’s said that golf is ‘a good walk spoiled’, but, while the game certainly has its fair share of frustrations, as lovers of the sport, we can’t agree with that. However, we do agree that one thing that really does spoil a game is a badly maintained course or one with poor quality landscape design.

Soilworx is proud to collaborate with golf course architects, agronomists and environmental experts to ensure that courses across Victoria look and perform their best. The selection and use of the right foundation materials, based on a course’s specific needs and environmental considerations can vary widely, but common foundation materials that Soilworx provide include:

  • Soil: The soil used in golf course construction is crucial for proper drainage, root development of grass and overall turf health. Different areas such as fairways, tees, greens and roughs often require different soil types and compositions.
  • Drainage materials: Golf courses need effective drainage systems to prevent waterlogging and maintain good playing conditions. Materials like gravel, sand and drainage pipes help to ensure proper water flow and prevent standing water on the course.
  • Sand: An essential material for constructing bunkers, the type and quality of sand used can significantly impact both their playability and maintenance requirements.
  • Gravel: Gravel is used in various areas of a golf course, such as cart paths and drainage systems to improve stability and durability.
