Silver Sand (Silica Sand)
Silica sand, or industrial sand, is a highly versatile sand primarily composed of silicon dioxide (SiO2) crystals. Silica sand’s moisture-free composition enhances drainage and inhibits weed growth, making it an ideal infill material.
Commonly referred to as silver sand, kiln-dried silica sand, paving sand, jointing sand, or block-filling sand, it boasts remarkable purity compared to regular sand. It outshines conventional sand, with silica levels ranging from 95% to 99%, which may contain impurities like clay, silt, or other minerals.
Industrial sectors, including glassmaking, foundry work, abrasives, and hydraulic fracturing, rely on silica sand’s high silicon dioxide (SiO2) content for many applications. It is not suitable for sandpits due to its high silica content.
